virgin no more
i'm talking bout my hair la! what were u thinking??? :D i used to tell ppl that i had never done anything to my hair before except get it cut. i did toy with ideas of getting it curled/colored before but never did it becoz 1) too expensive 2) i hate the process of it growing out esp colors coz it looks horrible 3) it might damage my hairBUT this time when i went back home i was itching to have something done to my boring hair, and held lengthy discussions with my sis as to what i shud do and finally settled on getting it highlighted. so off to the salon i went the very next day and sat there for 3 hours while they did the necessary - and voila! new hair!!i'm quite pleased coz everyone says it looks nice :) hehehehehe...i wud be crushed if it didn't coz i spent like over rm100 on it! too bad i can't post up pics here (coz i'm blogging from work and can't download the stuff to do that) that aside, the trip back home this time was thoroughly enjoyable and i tried to make the most of being home. found the company of my bro, ezra very entertaining even if it does tire me out after a while. somehow he took to following me everywhere and told my mum he likes me coz i dun bully him! :Ddun get me started on him else u have to endure me talking bout him non-stop...kekeke...now it's countdown to going home again in less than a month! ;)
a real email!
i got a REAL email from elaine today. wonder of wonders. i really didn't think she'd write so soon, but she did :) it was really really good to hear from her, and to know what's going on in her life. i remember telling her that if we don't start communicating, we'd be like strangers the next time we meet.she's going to be home for cny 06 and i wil be too *yay* so i'm glad we wil finally get to meet again soon. i just learned that she broke off with her bf of 7 yrs recently - i can imagine how tough that must be, but i'm glad to know she feels much happier now...i won't have regular internet access at home since the both the pc and laptop has kinda "died" so i prolly won't be posting much here til i get back on 27th.i told ev that my new resolutions are 1. to blog more often2. to comment more on other ppl's blogsand she happily supported it! :D i'm getting a headstart (its not even new year yet)wil add more of my resolutions as they come up... BLESSED CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006 TO EVERYONE!!
simple things that bring joy to me
i finally got an email reply from my elder sis, elaine in brunei. we haven't seen each other in ages (i think since cny this yr) and i was wondering how come she didn't reply my smses til i found out from my younger sis, elise, that she changed her no! so i sent sms to her to marah her. hehe. and she actually replied :Danyhow, i get forwarded mails from her every now and then to remind me that she's still alive, so i decided to write her a proper mail and see if she wud respond. i didn't get any mails until today and this is what it said"dearest emmy,

wil find time 2 write 2 u soon i promise. lots of love elaine."
that made my day :)yesterday i went with ev, kev and simon to malacca to surprise ingching. and it was worth it just to see ingching happy. good food, great company - nothing beats that for a great time on a holiday!ah...the simple pleasures of life...
treasures of friendship
i've just gotten back in touch with a friend lately. she's just finished her studies in nz and out of the blue, sent me a text. then we decided to chat online and it has been good talking to her. we've always met up whenever we were both home and she used to send what i term "mass emails" to friends and family to let us know how she's doing and etc. but it's been a while since we really caught up coz we were both so busy this year.we've known each other since like pre-teen days so we kinda go way back. her family goes to my church and i know her parents and her 2 elder brothers too. but i've come to appreciate her friendship even more now. we just seem to click and relate to each other in many ways, and i find myself sharing quite a lot with her.yesterday while chatting, i invited her to come stay with me - told her my place is open to her anytime. and she got sooo excited! she has another 1.5 years at least til the offer expires because i will definitely be in PJ til after i finish my masters. after that, dunno la. hahaa. then we made a deal - that we'd go on a trip together before either one of us gets hitched ;) she's about 2 years younger, and not into guys right now and i'm not attached either so i gather we have plenty of time!!she said "great friendships are so glorious" and i cudn't agree with her more. the blessings of friends are really precious, and i treasure them all.before i forget, CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation, Soos!!
it's December already??
wow, it's the end of the year! i keep on saying "time flies so fast" while emailing and talking to friends, and it's really really true. this year has just flown by. it's been quite an eventful year and i'm glad that it's coming to an end, mainly because of the holidays and home, but not so looking forward to yet another year which i'm sure will be full of new challenges. sometimes i just want to do nothing and not think of anything for a long time but we seldom have the luxury to do that!today was the last day of classes for my students - and for me too. i was giving out their test papers and did some revision with them. then we still had quite a bit of time left, so i chatted with them. then one guy commented "Teacher, you seem friendly today" and i said "u mean i'm usually not friendly?" the others laughed. then he added "no, i mean u seem MORE friendly today" so i said since it's the last day of class, and they are after all my students, i should be nice to them :) and i've realised that i'm loosening up when i'm with my students. during the year end appraisal my immediate head also said that she noticed i've closed the gap with the students and it's a good thing. so i told my students "my other students used to tell me i don't smile in class" and another gal said "yes, teacher. i said that!" but then added "actually u have a pretty smile, so you should smile more" i jokingly told the class that she was trying to polish my shoe :Pi've only worked 4 days this week coz mon was off. took ezra to watch chicken little. funny thing was, i went to the wrong cinema! and didn't realise it until i saw a snake coming out and then "Harry Potter" - oh oh - quickly asked ezra to go out and told him we're in the wrong cinema. i guess he's still too young coz he didn't make fun of me :D the other cinema (the right one now) was so empty. only 4 others at the back of us, then one family of 5 in front. that's it. it was ezra's first ever cinema outing and he didn't understand why he had to sit thru the whole thing. halfway he asked me "Can we go back to the hotel now?" i said no, coz we had already checked out of the first hotel. and we had to wait for my parents to come to go to the other one. thankfully, the movie held his interest enough to last til the end. and when the music came on, he started dancing! so cute!!then the night before, when i went to meet my parents and ezra for dinner, out of the blue, ezra told me "emmy, u look pretty!" my mum says he has a "sweet mouth" in mandarin. i asked him if he said that to all the girls, but he said no. hahaahha. he's such a charmer. then when i was walking around in klcc with him, i thot, mb other ppl wil think he's my son. so i asked him "do you think i cud b ur mummy?" he said "nolar, u are my emmy!" kekekekee. dun u just love kids??it's less than a month to a new year - i told myself i must take some time off to reflect on the year and spend some quality time with Father - and not to get caught up with other things that i neglect to do a 'health check' on my walk with Him. hopefully i'll get to do that on my break at home. hmm...just the thought of kuching makes me smile :)well, perhaps i'll post again before Christmas. til then, enjoy the rest of the year peeps.
