raya break

there's another 30 mins before i can leave work, and not come back for NINE days! yay! i'm feeling rather tired - so i'm looking forward to sleeping in tomoro, and having some time to get my assignments done before my upcoming final exams and also spend some time in s'ban with bf and family...

haven't been blogging much (not that it's even a surprise) coz i have a lot of things on my mind - have just finished one majorly tedious assignment, and taking time to adjust to being in a r/ship as well...

plus work is always there, altho i do know my workload isn't that heavy compared to others, and i'm very thankful - else i don't think i can handle everything at once :) anyway, i'm glad for some rest this week lah...hopefully i'll have more motivation to work after that..hehe...

just one prayer request- to keep my family in prayers as my aunt passed away mon morning due to cancer, and we'll all miss her lah. my comfort is that she's with the Lord now, and there's no more suffering for her - and her work here is done...may she rest in peace...

i'm officially 26!

i just turned 26 a few days ago. my birthday didn't feel any different from any other days. most of my surprises came before my actual birthday, and altho i'm not complaining, i felt a little pensive on the day itself. but it was a good day nevertheless, and a phone call all the way from australia brightened my day :)

i don't feel like an adult. haha. sometimes i feel as though i have so much more to learn. and i do, since i've only entered the working world not that long ago. workwise, this yr has been busy as usual. i guess the workload is always ever increasing no matter what job u're at.

on another note, this yr has been a yr of growth, and stretching. and of building relationships. i have been especially grateful to be able to spend some time at home, with my family. and to grow friendships with those close to me.

personal 'milestones' this yr - i'm glad to have finally completed my bible course, and got to teach the class 3 times which was a new experience for me. i'm now well more than halfway into my masters. hopefully i'll be able to complete it by mid-next yr.

and shortly before my bday, i got to know someone - whom i actually knew about, but didn't really know at all - who has made my life rather interesting these past few weeks. hehe. i was not expecting to even think about relationships this yr, but i think that is changing la. anyway, more details when the time comes.

not quite sure how to end this post, but i guess what's next is to see how things unfold in God's timing :)

another (attempted) surprise

my LF tried to surprise me with dinner and cake last nite :)

but since everyone had been unusually quiet about LF plans, and there were only CK and i at David's place, i had feeling something was up. and then, in the car to Ikano, CK answered the phone and i knew it was someone confirming the meeting place with her. hehehe....but it was so good to know that the LF took pains to celebrate with me, and make it memorable....thanks Sharon, David, Shannon, Chooi Kam, Adel, Sze Hui, Irene, Tina, Dom, Cindy, Cat!! u guys are the bestest LF ;) the food at fasta pasta was good, and the cake too!!

they made me wear the miniest party hat (it's actually a corong tirus - for ice cream cone i think) and hold Shann's Msian flag while they took pics of me :P hahahaha but it's all in the name of fun lar...can never get away without being sabotaged a lil wan...

today i had another pleasant surprise - my younger sis, Elise, sent me a choker and a card via PosLaju - it was so sweet of her. and her message on the card touched me "i wouldn't trade u for any other sister in the world" awww...how can i not love her rite?

and lately, i seem to be more and more in touch with many friends, catching up on things and rekindling the friendships...it's all very good :) and i can't thank God enuf for all the blessings He's bringing my way...

birthday surprise!

i had a surprise bday celebration last nite :)

ev and ingching suggested we go pasar ramadan yesterday - which i happily agreed to - thinking of all the delicious food there, and so after work they came to pick me up and off we went to tmn tun ramadan bazaar...little did i know they had this thing up their sleeves!

i must say - they were v good actors, and i didn't suspect anything then. looking back of coz, i cud see some signs but at that point i was not aware of it. hehe. so after we reached ingching's place, ingching asked me to put her bag in her room and then i went to the toilet.

then later i found out they were all hiding in the room, and since i chose to go to the toilet at such an opportune moment, they were all waiting for me to come out. they heard the flush, and took their positions. when i opened the door, they were ready to ambush. BUT i was blur, turned around to wash my hands...and got the shock of my life when they shouted SURPRISE!!!! boy, i was so shocked i literally jumped!! and kevin managed to capture that moment on his camera. hehehehehe....

they really planned the whole thing v well - and i didn't suspect anything. THANKS guys - ev, ingching, meera, paulina, pat, kevin, yew meng and even becky! i can imagine the suspense and the moments of uncertainty they had to endure, and being in the stuffy room with the fan and lights switched off - and having to hide shoes in the balcony :) good thing pat didnt drop the bday jellies! ;)

we had a great time - yummy food and delightful conversations - exchanging stories and laughing a lot. frens really are a great treasure! and this is one memorable bday surprise, guys. love u all.

i've been nagged at to blog again - so i'm obliging :)

but at least i got an sms from ST last fri - saying he's surprised to see many updates since he last visited. haha. shows how ketinggalan zaman he is! heheheehe...most of the time, ppl complain i hardly ever blog. even a few guys i met recently took a swipe at me :P but nvm, i always admit i'm a lazy blogger anyway...

we got really unexpected news on fri at work - the company has decided to discontinue with a gratuity scheme for employees due to some 'administrative difficulties' and as compensation, is giving out a lump sum payment to all staff according to the no of service years rendered to the company.

the most AMAZING part of this whole thing is that i've been wondering how money for my tuition fees this sem is going to come from - i had paid using my credit card, and last weekend had intended to sell some valuables (since gold price is high now) coz i didn't see the point of incurring unnecessary debt. BUT God's timing is really precise - and the news came in just before the weekend.

today i went to collect the letter from the HR and discovered that the amount i'm getting is just enough to cover my tuition fees. if this is not God, i dunno what is :) so here i thank God with all my heart. hehe...

oh and during lunch today something hilarious happened. i went to a kopitiam nearby with my colleague, nick. towards the end of our lunch, an elderly lady came to sit at our table. and she started striking up a conversation with nick in cantonese. which is all fine, despite her having no teeth and a bit incorrigible. she was advising him not to eat too much rice, noodles etc etc and he being ever obliging, let her carry on and responded whenever appropriate. i think the poor lady just doesn't have anyone to talk to.

THEN 3 other colleagues came to join us at the table. they're all ladies, non-chinese and not exactly small-sized. this elderly lady turned to one of them and said "you fat! don't eat so much! later when u get old u can't walk properly" and my colleague said "nick, u better be the mediator and ask her to stop talking before i lose my temper!" we all burst out laughing. my colleague then said - "i'm actually going to eat 2 plates of pasta!" hahaahha...and it didn't end there - the elderly lady then turned to nick and asked in canto -"when u look at me, do u see i'm fat?" nick quickly said - "no, no!" hahahahaha....we had a good laugh man. at least lunch was entertaining today ;)
