quirky lil habits

i have a habit of curling and uncurling my toes - apparently i do it a LOT. and i dun even realise it most of the time. my housemates can attest to it.

why am i blogging bout this? well, coz i just got up from my nap and my roomie asked me - "Did you know you can bend ur first 3 toes without bending the 4th one? I was wondering if you were really sleeping or not. I tried it but i just can't do it!!" :D :D

then irene said - Emmy always bends her toes. even when she's sitting down or doing whatever. she ALWAYS does it. hahaha. we all got a good laugh out of it.

i told irene - this is soooo bloggable!!! so here i am now blogging bout it. i wanted her to blog, but alas, i gotta do it :P

inspiration strikes!

i suddenly feel like i have so much to say!

over the past few days i had some really good conversations with a few friends - one that resonates within ur soul, which makes u ponder long after the actual conversation has ended, leaving u feeling grateful - and knowing that the Lord is indeed mindful of his people. it's all good :)

i met an interesting taxi driver yesterday on my way back from UM. he's a young chap bout my age, and we struck up an rather unusual topic of conversation (all in malay). he ended up asking me about BGR relationships - from what i gather, he has a girlfriend who is better educated than he is, and he has problems deciding whether she really is the one, and battling with ego/self-esteem issues. not something i normally talk about to a total stranger. but it was quite hilarous, and amusing too. i gave him my opinions, and encouraged him to go home and consider it further. hehe. almost like a counselor - except i'm not paid! hahaa. before i got down i told him "kadang-kadang naik teksi seronok jugak eh!" hehehhe....

oh and yesterday i finally went to the post-grad office in my fac to enquire bout the project paper which i'll hv to complete before i can graduate. i intend to finish it in 1 sem and wanted to know if that was possible. my frens had told me earlier they usually expect us to take 2 sems to do it. anyway, i was again amazed at God's faithfulness. the lady was most helpful, and i found out that i had to submit what they call the "Borang Perlantikan Penyelia" (Lecturer's Nomination Form) ASAP - because the meeting is this FRIDAY!! if i miss this date, i'll hv to wait for the next meeting which wud be in a FEW MONTHS time!

i decided very quickly on who i wanted to approach - i had been thinking about this for a long time but never made up my mind til yesterday. i decided i liked the area of pragmatics and i was having pragmatics lecture yesterday - so naturally, i asked my lecturer and she agreed. phew! so i'll hv to go in today to hand-in the form. just in the nick of time too. all i can say is, God is good to me. haha....

today the SHTCA students (hotel/tourism/culinary arts) held an international food fest in our auditorium. the food looked sooo good that i ended up buying food for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. hahaha. since i'm heading to UM after work anyway, it all works out nicely for me. haha. i shan't list down all the food they have, lest it get cursed for tempting u. but i wil tell u what i bought - banana fritters, popiah, brownie, tiramisu, pizza, chic+lamb kebab with rice pilaf, and a drink. (talk about being a glutton! :P)

excuse me while i go pig out!

update at last

i've given up trying to blog regularly. seems like most of the time i'm only blogging bout work and school. boring! :P well, things haven't changed. most of my time is still occupied by thinking about what 2 do for my assignments, and what to do in class with my students. so it isn't exactly anything real exciting. haha...

i've been doing some recordings of people talking - including myself. and it tickles me to hear how different our voices come across in those recordings. i have like a higher-pitched voice than i normally do, irene says i sound cute. hahaha. i hope i'll finally be able to record something 'useful' - meaning one which i can actually analyse. it's turning out to be more challenging and tiresome than i thought!

next month is going to be BUSY BUSY BUSY - ALL the deadlines for the assignments are going to be in Oct, and i have to prepare exam papers too at work. i wonder how i'm going to ever find enuf time to do everything. which is why i'm not supposed to be blogging :P

anyway, sept is a dry month - no public holidays, no school breaks, nothing - except the midterm break in UM. but it doesn't feel like much, coz i still have to go to work everyday. oh well, i guess it's better than having no break at all from uni. i'll definitely be looking forward to the Raya break even if it means i'll be studying the whole time. can i just fast forward to December? (reminds me of the movie 'Click')

and all of a sudden, i notice myself being more absent-minded these days. i wonder why. perhaps because my mind is always wrapped up in sth else (like trying to figure out assignments and teaching plans) or mb i'm just getting old. hah.
