i'm updating again :) at least not that long since my last post la hor?i just got back from class - during the last part of the class, i played hangman with my students. they really enjoyed it- and there was even friendly ribbing and rivalry going on - as a teacher, i was pleased to see them so engaged in what they are doing. it's just great when the whole class is game to participate and make it all happen. i enjoyed it as much as they did i think. hehehe....ahh...the simple pleasures of being a teacher ;)i've been busy busy busy lately - i'm hardly at home much, and i think because i'm constantly thinking bout stuff i haven't been sleeping that well too. it's strange - not too long ago i cud fall asleep without any problems and it'll be a deep sleep, without dreams (at least not so much like now)...maybe it's the 'stress' and my mind is just too active...so i think i'm gonna schedule some 'me' time next week. just to relax, maybe finish reading the book pat lent me, and just laze around a bit...to find some breathing space before my classes in uni starts again. i just saw the notice for registrations from UM (it was sent to my house) this morning and went online to check what subjects are being offered this semester. classes start on the 10th july, so i'm going to be busy again until end november - and then there's a break in december.ONE more month til my break....come quick come quick....heheheeh....Ezra...here i come...
i'm done with classes for the day. thank goodness. today is one of the busiest days, with 2 classes in the morning, lunch break then another one in the afternoon. the afternoon class was almost cancelled - i went to class and there wasnt anyone so i went back to office. anyway, it's an enrichment class we give FOC to students and we teach them other stuff not covered in their normal class syllabus. i had asked my colleagues to remind the students that i'll be seeing them today, as the students are fully capable of forgetting. so since i didn't see any student after 10 minutes, i assumed they were not informed. about 20 minutes later, one student calls up the office and said they were waiting for me. so off i went to class. the class is not compulsory, so attendance is up to the student's perogative. there were 6 of them, which is rather small but workable. all in a day's work :)it's almost time to clock-off work. still debating whether to stay back longer or go home early. i still need to prepare for KLTI class tomorrow - teaching on the book of Romans (Chap 5-8). i think it'll be more challenging than teaching Mark, since it's more of explaining Paul's view of the gospel and not so much a story. we'll c how it goes. hehe...
yesterday i went to bukit kiara with irene and some others from her i-bridge gang. my new roomie chen may went as well, and socks too. it's quite nice to be in nature for a change even if i was attacked by mosquitoes as soon as we got there! the walk itself was quite nice, and just worked up a bit of sweat. perhaps next time i shud jog instead :D no aches and pains today so guess i need to step up the 'difficulty level'...
it's only monday and i find myself wishing it's already friday. it's not that i don't enjoy my job - i actually do, because every time i'm interacting with students i find it to be satisfying but i'm not excited about having to have a fixed routine due to the nature of the job and having to do a lot of paperwork. but anyway, wil just ask God to give me grace to go on til my next break!
yesterday i called Dad to wish him Happy Father's Day. i wanted to write a post bout him but tak jadi. i wonder if he knows how much he means to me, and how much i'll miss him when he's not around. i've been telling my frens that my husband has big shoes to fill - my dad is pretty much a genius when it comes to fixing things around the house to the extent that he can do the renovations complete with tiling, kitchen cabinets and etc. not only that, he's a great cook, has a unique sense of humor and is a laid-back person who hardly lets anything ruffle his feathers. he's got a lot of wisdom, and he loves God. he single-handedly brought up 4 children, ranging from 3 to 13 years old for 6 years after Mum died. he was almost Mr. Mum of the Year material :)
see what i mean now by having big shoes to step into? i hope that won't discourage Mr. Right to pursue me tho :D hahhaa...i'm thankful to have my Dad as my father...obviously he's not perfect, he's not very good when it comes to keeping track of where he left all his important documents or money management but overall, he's one pretty neat package. i love him to bits!
it's kinda funny that now it is turning out to be a post about Dad after all!! haha...
of little boys and planes
i got a call from my little brother, ezra just now. i can't explain why - but i just feel so warm and good after hearing his voice :) my dad was in town the other day, and ezra had asked me to buy him a small toy plane - to replace the one i bought him much earlier because it had spoilt, and so i told him i wud look for it. then when i met my dad, he said i didn't need to buy it, and ezra wud be happy with any other toy that either i or my dad bought for him so i left it at that. as it turns out, my dad didnt manage to buy him any toy in the end.i asked ezra just now and he said "nolah, donut only!" my dad usually buys dunkin donuts when he comes coz we don't hv it in kch. i just had to smile when ezra said that. i told him i cudn't find it-and he tells me "neh, that toy shop ah..." in reference to toys-r-us in 1u where i had bought the small plane the last time. i'm still amazed at his memory!! that was like end of 2004...wow...i guess this means i'll hv to make a trip to toys-r-us before i go home next month. haha..
dratted 'teh peng'!
i always regret it. i had 'teh peng' durin lunch - and now i'm feeling the effects. i've got headache and as usual i'll wish i didn't drink it but there's no turning back is there? :P i never learn...i have learnt to stay away from coffee tho - i just cannot stand the misery it puts me thru every time i drink it - heart pulpitations, trembling hands, and just a totally bleh feeling all over. it's been a long long time since i subjected myself to its torturous powers. i love the smell of coffee but i just can't drink the silly thing. it's prolly a good thing since it's BAD for health and i can confidently say i won't ever be a coffee addict :Di guess my only cure is to flush it out with lots and lots of water...haha...
Dion's (and Socks) farewell
Last nite, we had a farewell dinner for my roommate Dion. She's graduated and today she's moving back home while waiting for her posting. She's officially a dentist now, and we can start calling her Dr. Dion. Hehehehe...Adeline, Irene and myself gave Dion and Socks (who's also moving away in August) a treat in Italiannies. We had stuffed mushrooms, calamari ceasar salad, grilled chicken fettuccini and classic pizza. The food was good- but the company was better. We had fun taking pics with Irene's camera, and did some silly poses. i think the waiters must think we're nuts! Too bad i don't have the pics yet, else i'd upload them here.I'll miss having Dion as my roommate. She's a really good listener- i always like talking to her coz i can make her laugh (at least someone gets my wit! hehe). Dion is also really funny at times - she's shy around new people, but when you get to know her she's not shy at all :) She's the resident pet lover in the house, and she really really has a soft spot for them. When i look at how she treats them, i'm amazed that she can love pets so much - God really makes us all different. i'm totally indifferent when it comes to pets. i just dun feel v much for them - they are cute and all, but i wudn't want to hv one.i'm feeling so sleepy now - i'm supposed to work on exam papers which are long overdue but i'm still not doing them. i told myself i hv to work late tonite but anyway, we'll c how much i actually get done today...
apple pie!!
today i attempted making apple pie for the first time on my own :) i had done it once before with my dad's help and instruction, but this was my maiden try without his expert advice (and someone to save the day if it went wrong) and i'm happy to report that it tastes good!! hehehe...diana teased me by asking "is ur house-wifey side kicking in?" :P however, i must say - the feeling of being able to satisfy people and seeing them tuck in their food with glee gives me great pleasure, even if it does take quite a bit of work to make the pie...i took leave from wed this week - my dad was in town, so i got to spend some time wid him yesterday and took the chance to get the recipe for apple pie off him. my dad's a great cook, so let's see if i can follow his footsteps in time to come ;)
